TAIWAN NEW ZEALAND COPY-RIGHT ARRANGEMENT
The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) recently announced that following the signing on 15 June 1998 of the Arrangement Between the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in New Zealand and the New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office on the Reciprocal Protection and Enforcement of Copyright, the two gov-ernments had each completed their associated legal procedures, and the arrangement took ef-fect on 22 December 2000. Under the arrange-ment, each side will give works completed after that date the same protection as works of their own nationals. Works completed before will also be protected, but unauthorized use before the effective date will not constitute copyright infringement.
