In August 2001 the Ministry of Finance amended its Standard Terms for Life Insurance Policies. Henceforth, a policyholder who becomes dis-abled due to deliberately self-inflicted injuries cannot claim on the policy even if he has been insured for more than two years. This new rule became effective from 15 August 2001.
