CAP ON DIRECT FOREIGN OWNERSHIP OF TYPE I TELE-COMMUNICATION BUSINESS TO BE LIFTED 49%
On 28 August 2001 the Ministry of Transporta-tion and Communications (MOTC) approved a proposed amendment to Article 12 of the Tele-communications Law, which will lift the restric-tion on direct foreign shareholding in a Type I telecommunication business to 49%. The re-striction on combined direct and indirect foreign shareholding is to remain 60%. The proposal will be included among priority bills for review during the Legislative Yuan's next session.
