ROC-EL SALVADOR IPR AGREEMENT TAKES EFFECT
On 19 April 2002, the IPO announced the entry into force of the Agreement on the Mutual Pro-tection of Intellectual Property Rights Between the Republic of China and the Republic of El Salvador. Under the agreement, from 1 March 2002, a natural or juristic person of the territories represented by the ROC and El Salvador may use an application filed in its territory for an inven-tion patent, utility model patent, industrial design patent, trademark, service mark, or collective mark, as the basis for a priority claim when making a corresponding filing in the other terri-tory. However, the priority date so claimed may not be earlier than 1 March 2002.
