NO RESTRICTION ON INFANT FEEDING LOCATIONS
The Gender Equality in Employment Law pro-vides that if an employee has a child under the age of one year whom he/she needs to feed in person, the employer must allow the employee two infant feeding periods of 30 minutes each day. However, the law does not state where such feeding is to take place, and this has led to doubts as to whether an employee may leave the work-place for the purpose. According to an inter-pretation issued by the CLA, if the employee is able to complete feeding and return within 30 minutes, it does not contravene the law for him/her to leave the workplace and return home or to go to a childminder's home to feed the in-fant.
