REAL-TIME TRACKING FOR INDUSTRIAL WASTE VEHICLES
To effectively monitor the movements of vehi-cles carrying hazardous industrial wastes, the Environmental Protection Administration re-cently announced that equipment used to trans-port infectious industrial waste, hazardous sludge, hazardous dust, incinerator fly ash, or incinerator slag, must be fitted with a real-time tracking system.
After a tracking system is fitted to designated waste removal equipment, application should be made to the EPA (or an organization commis-sioned by the EPA) for a system operating cer-tificate. A real-time tracking system operating certificate is valid for one year and may subse-quently be extended by further periods of one year each.
Failure to fit a real-time tracking system as re-quired is punishable by a fine of NT$60,000 to NT$300,000.
