STREAMLINED PATENT APPLICATION PROCEDURE
In current patent practice, where a patent applicant appoints an agent to handle patent filing matters on his behalf, the written application bear not only the seal of the agent but also that of the applicant himself. In the interest of streamlining application procedures, the National Bureau of Standards announced on 10 November 1998 that in cases handled by an agent, only the agent's seal need be affixed on the written application, and not the applicant's.
