SEIZURE AND FINES FOR COUNTERFEIT IMPORTS AND EXPORTS
A new Article 39-1 has been added to the Cus-toms Anti-Smuggling Act, empowering Customs to (1) confiscate goods declared for import or export that infringe against patents, trademarks, or copyright, except in the case of parallel im-ports of genuine goods, and (2) impose an ad-ministrative fine of one to three times the goods' value. But where the specific provisions of other legislation apply, they should take precedence over the above provisions.
