BROADCASTING OF CABLE TV PROGRAMS IN HOTEL ROOMS CONSTITUTES PUBLIC PRESENTATION
In a recent ruling, the High Court of Taiwan said that broadcasting rights conferred to cable TV operators by copyright owners are public broadcasting rights, and apply only to home viewing. Rebroadcasting in individual rooms of cable TV programs received by public places such as hotels constitutes public presentation, for which additional authorization must be obtained from the copyright owner; otherwise, it is illegal.
