IPO AMENDS PATENT EXAMI-NATION GUIDELINES ON MAT-TERS REGARDING PATENT CANCELLATION AND REVOCA-TION EX OFFICIO

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has begun to amend the Patent Examination Guidelines on Matters Regarding Patent Cancellation and Revocation Ex Officio according to amended Patent Act. Starting from February 2006, the IPO will hold hearings to collect public com-ments. The amendments will address:

Requirements for patentability; and

Changes to the procedure for cancellation af-ter the repeal of the opposition process.
