PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE LIST OF DESIGNATED INDUSTRIES UNDER ARTICLE 9 OF THE SOIL AND GROUNDWATER POLLUTION REMEDIATION ACT
According to Article 9 of the Soil and Groundwater Pollution Remediation Act, before filing an application with the authorities for the company incorporation, suspension or termination of business operations, enterprises in those industries designated by the central competent authority must submit to the local competent authority relevant soil pollution inspection data regarding the land used or to be used by the enterprises for the authority's records.
So far, 17 industries have been so designated. The Environmental Protection Administration is planning to add another 13 industries to the list as follows:
- Lumbering;
- Fertilizer manufacturing;
- Paint, varnish, dye, pigment manufacturing;
- Steel and iron casting;
- Aluminum smelting;
- Aluminum casting;
- Copper smelting;
- Copper casting;
- Metal heat treatment;
- Passive electronic component manufacturing;
- Optoelectronic material and component manufacturing;
- Waste Disposal; and
- Petroleum storage and transportation yards.
