EXECUTIVE YUAN CONSIDERS OPENING NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE MARKET
The Executive Yuan is considering opening the national health insurance market to competition. Since the implementation of the National Health Insurance Law in 1994, the Bureau of National Health Insurance has been the only insurer authorized to operate under the National Health Insurance program. The Executive Yuan's proposal would allow other insurers to participate in the program. Further information is expected soon on the proposed liberalization and capital requirements for additional insurers.
