Amendments to the Regulations of Leave-Taking of Workers Expand the Definitional Scope of Ordinary Sick Leave due to Hospitalization
In May 2010 the Council of Labor Affairs amended the Regulations of Leave-Taking of Workers ("Regulations"). The amendment expands the definitional scope of ordinary sick leave due to hospitalization. The Regulations provide that a hospitalized worker is entitled to ordinary sick leave, not to exceed one year in two years. According to Article 4, Item 2 of the amended Regulations, time taken for the treatment of cancer (including carcinoma in situ) or rest during pregnancy should be treated as ordinary sick leave due to hospitalization.
