According to statistics recently released by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), the IPO received in total 51,921 patent applications in 1999. Of these, 32,643 (approximately 60%) were filed by ROC applicants, and 19,278 (about 40%) by foreign applicants. Related statistics are detailed in the tables below:
